Scotland Women’s Stand - Lochgilphead

On Saturday 7 September, The Parliament Project and the YWCA – Young Women’s Movement - are gathering 400 women for a dynamic day at the Scottish Parliament, to explore their paths to elected office and participation in democracy.

To help women from across the country participate, live screenings of the event will be hosted by four local authorities, including 51³Ô¹ÏÃâ·ÑApp and Bute.

The screening will happen in the Council’s Chambers in Lochgilphead. Participants will be able to:

  • watch the Parliament Chamber event streamed live,

  • interact with the panel by posing questions,

  • enjoy lunch with other women and

  • attend a Parliament Project ‘Exploring Your Political Pathway’ workshop.

This workshop will help you get clarity on your route into politics and commit to your first steps, helping you turn a thought about politics into action.

Lee Chalmers, Founder of The Parliament Project said: “Scotland Women Stand is about women from every part of our nation exploring their political ambitions. Whether that is city or rural, mainland or islands women. We are delighted and very excited to be working with these 4 Local Councils on making this day accessible to more women."

Women are invited to join in and experience the journeys of other women to politics, find support and information, and connect with a community of women who want to get involved in making politics equal.
