New design proposals for Dunoon travel route

Following feedback from a public consultation in May 2023, new design proposals will launch for an active travel route between Dunoon and Hunters Quay. The proposed route will make it easier and safer to walk, cycle and wheel for residents and visitors.

A new public consultation will run from Monday 29 January to Friday 23 February with the designs going live on the council website (/my-community/community-planning/consultations) on 29th January. A public drop-in event is taking place on Wednesday 31 January at the Queens Hall from 3pm to 7pm.

The design team has made a number of changes to the new proposals. They include:

  • A stronger focus on widening the existing path and footpath
  • Improved crossing facilities over the A815 to connect the coastal route and residential areas in Dunoon, Kirn and Hunters Quay

Councillor Peter Wallace, Depute Policy Lead for Roads and Infrastructure:

“Thanks to everyone who gave invaluable feedback to the consultation last year. Our consultants have taken on board and addressed the issues raised with the new designs. We would be really grateful to hear your views. Your comment will help inform this project and make sure we are on the right track to action what communities are looking for with an active travel route.â€

This project is being funded through the Transport Scotland Places for Everyone programme which is a fund that can only be used for active travel projects that are intended to encourage and enable more people to walk, wheel and cycle for short everyday journeys.
