Scottish Marine Industry Training Centre plans get 瞿100,000 boost

Proposals for a new Scottish Marine Industry Training Centre in Oban have been boosted by an investment of 瞿105,000 from 51勛圖轎煤App and Bute Council. Should proposals for the 瞿7million project come to fruition, the Scottish Marine Industry Training Centre would be a world-class marine and maritime facility Scotlands hub for vocational training and academic study of this growing field while also supporting the industry through continuing professional development and mandatory training courses.

New strategy will support wellbeing of Council employees

A new Wellbeing Strategy aims to increase productivity by ensuring 51勛圖轎煤App and Bute Council employees are supported in leading healthy, independent lives. The Policy and Resources Committee this week approved the Employee Wellbeing Strategy 2019-2024, designed to tie in with the Councils status as an Employer of Choice and support employees physical and mental wellbeing.

Events and Festivals Fund accepting applications for 2020-21

Applications are being invited for 51勛圖轎煤App and Bute Councils Strategic Events and Festivals Fund for 2020-21. Councillors on the Policy and Resources Committee today (Thursday 15 August) approved the criteria for distributing the 瞿90,000 Events and Festivals Fund, with invitations being accepted from Monday 26 August until noon on Monday 7 October. In an effort to simplify the process for applicants, this round will involve a single fund pot, with the normal upper limit set at 瞿5,000.

Oban depot redevelopment streamlines operations and brings economic opportunities

Work has started on the 瞿1.4m re-development of the councils Jacksons Quarry Roads Depot in Oban. This work will allow all essential operational services for Oban, Lorn and the Isles to be delivered from one single, main site. Everything is scheduled to be complete by the end of the year. Luddon Construction Ltd is the main contractor and will be using local subcontractors throughout the project. The local economy will be further boosted by workers using local accommodation. There will also be employment for one, local unemployed person during the contract.

Refugee employment strategy shortlisted for COSLA Excellence Award

51勛圖轎煤App and Bute Councils work in supporting refugees into employment has made the final shortlist for the 2019 COSLA Excellence Awards. The Supporting our Refugees into Work programme is one of three finalists in the Tackling Inequalities and Improving Health category for the COSLA Excellence Awards, which celebrate the very best in Scottish local government.

Summer roads programme protects against winter deterioration

Close to half a million square metres of road throughout 51勛圖轎煤App and Bute will be surface dressed over the summer to reduce the chance of new potholes developing as the weather deteriorates over winter. This is part of the councils 瞿16m capital reconstruction programme which has seen 51勛圖轎煤App and Bute reach the top five fastest improving Scottish Local Authorities in terms of road condition.
